Day05 and still going strong. Got a popiah lunch party tomorrow and having some guests over for late tea/early dinner on Day06 and Z's family on Day07. Then meeting up with friends on Day09 and an aqiqah on Day13. Apparently chap goh meh (Day15) is a public holiday.

Anyways CNY 2012 is the most travelled CNY according to my mum. Here's where we went thru CNY 2011.

Day01: Klang, PJ Auntie, dinner in Klang (leftovers from reunion dinner)
Day02: Berkeley, Setia Alam and Paragon Heights, dinner in Putrajaya Seafood
Day03: Sg Nipah, Seremban and dinner in the middle of nowhere - lol!
Day04: Setapak, PV6 and dinner at Hj Sharin Low @ Ampang
Day05: Banting and Bagan Lalang for the beach and steamboat dinner at Sepang Goldcoast

*phew*

I guess the photo speaks volumes about the week that passed but there's another week to go for CNY 2012! Happy Chinese New Year to all and do drop me a comment just to say hi - would like to know whether anyone is still/actually reading :p thanks!

Been reading a viral post about how life can be prolonged by eating:
1. Fish
2. 80% of your food served
3. Keeping a diary/log

And now with the advent of technology and a slight delay in a native iPhone app, one can now update blogspot compared to how Wordpress and the rest had native iPhone apps much much earlier.

Anyways today was rather eventful as my BIL visited and my in-laws returned to KB after staying over at our place for 3 nights (which is rather rare) so we and the kids were fortunate enough to spend a couple of days with tokwan and Tok ayah ;-) also managed to do some Ikea shopping while at it too.

And we had sup tulang special at Janda Baik which is always a treat considering the journey and RM10 toll to and fro.

Fingers crossed to more updates on this space ;-) Do drop me a comment if anyone is reading... Maybe it isn't updating cause no one reads my rants anymore...?

Our ride took us to UIM from Gombak station and back. Mikael enjoyed all the sights and sounds of the bus. Especially the roaring of the engine, the driver, the door opening and shut, and the bells on the bus when the passengers sounded it to alight the bus.

Sleeping through the night and a first overnight weekend in Klang

Like it or not, but ever since having a son, our lives has changes.
From husband-wife to parents and caregivers. It's neither been tough
nor easy but it's truly been fun. We are now actually living our lives
thru the eyes of a 1.4 year old. We see things in new light as how he
sees things and believe me, it's the simple things in life that are so
basic that make it all so pure and fascinating. A simple piece of
paper/envelope can be minutes, if not hours or pure joy. Keys can be a
rattler and even an instructional tool to place things were it was
picked up. Keyholes places to insert keys and holding hands gripping
tightly so not to fall while washing legs in the toilet. Exploring and
Mikael's inquisitive nature has been quite fun to watch. We're blessed.

He not been sick. He been eating and napping well and beginning the
month of March 2010, he's been sleeping through the night ;) sleeps on
an average at 10-11pm and sleeps through all the way to 8-9am. Much
deserved sleep on top of the 1-2hour naps he gets during the day. Did
I mention that all our assets (blogs, facebook, SMS) are all dedicated
to him and he's literally taking a big space in our lives ;) No
complains though as we love him to bits and love spending time with him.

March, 1st week was also the 1st weekend he spent a overnighter in his
grandparents' place in Klang. He vomitted a bit according to them, but
largely due to non-stop over eating. From fruits to biscuits to jelly.
Haha. The. Went back to sleep while grandma changed his soiled
clothes ;)

Anyways, we've got another 5 months to go and Mikael has been coping
really well with his brother/sister on the way. He's been very
adorable pointing out "baby" whenever we ask him, "Where's baby?" and
he always ends the pointing with a soft gentle kiss on mummy's belly.
Cute, eh?

Anyways, our lives are so busy with Mikael and our lives so much so we
actually managed to catch 2 movies over last weekend, Solomon Kane and
Up In The Air. Both 80% movies from rottentomatoes. Though short (2
hours in duration), we had fun just indulging ourselves. Mamak at
Doraisamy till 2:30am in the morning, breakfast at our old dating
place snd just leisurely reading the Sunday newspapers. Bliss.

Baby #2 - we're praying it's a boy! 10 girl cousins in total to-date

2010 - Hmm.. there's just so much happening this year and a much anticipated year. For those who know, EDD of our #2 will be on 4th of August 2010 :) A metal tiger baby. Fortunately Mikael's a rat and so the story goes of a tiger being assisted by a rat. But poor parents of both Mikael and #2, goats :) Habis kena makan (Eaten by the metal tiger).

On the work front, we are looking at pushing out 2 campaigns/projects. The 1st one being a viral marketing campaign and the 2nd being a tv series that we are producing on our own. Chicken & egg for sponsors but we intend to hatch the egg first :)

Cousins at play during brekkie reunions

Family has been great. Both sides are warm and closer this year as Friday nights have been the Wong's reunion dinner at my place with fresh warm home cooked food. And every weekend, on a rotation basis, has been breakfast/brunch at the Yahya's. We also have some holiday (whole family) planned out. So 2010 is gonna be an exciting year.

Poor mummy probably will have a tough time fasting for Ramadhan this year and daddy would probably have to do it alone. It all depends. Maybe if all's well, we might spend Ramadhan in Bukit Marak and fast with my parents :) Pray for her safely and our newborn and that all's well.

Having celebrated Hari Raya Haji without my parents in town was a little bit different this year. Mixed feelings actually. Not having grilled beef and gulai - now that's another story altogether. Alhamdulillah, they are safe and happily performing their hajj in Mekah and I must say, it's left me contemplating about life.

Life is indeed a gift. But I leave you with a very profound quote:

"Life is not always or only a gift. Life is also a test. A crucial element of this test is how life itself might be improved so as to lessen suffering, improve capacity, enhance abilities, and extend the duration of every desirable aspect of life itself. This is the lesson of life. This is how the test is well-met. The true gift of life is to make it better than it was when first received."

Something I found very relevant and current. Learnt somethings from Season 4 Heroes as well. From Hiro's character where he positively said that life is also short & precise. Hence, to make the most out of it.

Back to the quote by Mike LaTorra above, it comes a time when our hearts have to have a purpose in life and from this purpose, then, will our physical bodies move forward. Same goes with his saying that we have to "make it better than when it was first received". And having read his whole article, I come to realize that life can be taken negatively as well, when we are "given" sicknesses and illnesses that cannot be cured. That's when we ask ourselves, whether life is truly a gift or not. But, when all's well and nothing's wrong with life, we fail to thank the people we love, the friends and family around us, thank God and everything/everyone around us. And with this thanks and jealously eliminated, we can live - life :D

Therefore, life being a test - many tests by God, is also something quite profound whom my wife often times reminds me that, "God won't ready/give you tests that you can't pass", so hang in there and love life.

Haha - this time it was in Klang and Mikael's grandparents *insisted* on celebrating it! Thanks dad & mum!

We had a blast with food from all corners of Klang & Australia. Mum baked a cheese-durian cake for Mikael, along with nasi lemak+kuih+pau+a birthday pie (cake)!

Aunty Alice + Uncle Tony did cheese sandwiches which I dont' remember tasting. Aunty Jasmine from Aussie-land made kisch & yam cakes. Another aunty make gula melaka balls. And there was so many kuih I couldn't remember :D

Mikael totally enjoyed himself playing with all his relatives and cousins until he fell asleep as soon as he sat in the car to head back to KL. He loved all his presents, especially the "bus" toy and monkey-zoo thingee :) Thank you all for the lovely pressies and angpows!

It was totally a blast and daddy contributed by hand painting him a birthday banner! Happy Birthday my son! Love lots!

Mikael's second 1 year old birthday celebration - Dish Deli @ Solaris Mont Kiara

We stumbled upon this place when we were Googling for baby food & how to cook 'em. Dish Deli @ Solaris @ Mont Kiara serves blast frozen baby food (from 6 months - 12 months and up to 18months :P).

So, we decided to take Mikael for his first restaurant meal and what a joyous occasion it was! He had the Sweet Veggie Medley (sweet potatoes + pumpkins + carrots) for his birthday along with toys on a nice little carpet to play on the floor.

I gotta the admit that the place is quite tastefully done - with diaper changing area and baby friendly stools to stand on to wash hands (sink) and 3-4 baby chairs.

Toys were also aplenty and the food (though small in helpings) were quite tasty! Plus the door to the gents was a little too springy and hard to open - especially difficult if you have a baby on hand being carried to wash his hands :)

Daddy had the lamb lancashire and mummy had the hummus with veggie dips and the Cottage Pie. Absolutely yummy! I will let the photos speak for itself :)

With Raya 2009, came a birthday! Mikael's! He turned 1 on 26th Sept and had the privilege to celebrate it the 21st (2nd day of Raya) with 3 other September babies (namely, Kak Wati, Efi and Ipar). It was truly a family affair with Ayah Long's branded homemade cake and Secret Recipe's so-so banana cake (the only variety they had! as they had multiple orders for Raya day).

We have party packs (chocolates, cloud9, kandos, sweets & balloons). All our nieces were sugar high but truly enjoyed themselves. It was unfortunately that ma had to see the doctors for a jab the night before :( But, all's well when we had kepcei (KFC) sponsored by Ayah Long! Thanks!!

Lil' Mikael are much much easier to care for these dayss. I'm just having so much fun watching him grow :) Play, learn and imitate :)

These days he can play on his own and isn't that clingy anymore. Until he needs to sleep on my shoulder la. But then again, he tells us when he's sleepy by crawling up beside me and lying on whatever he can lie on. Like my thigh or elbom or even the floor beside us. Haha. Anyways, gotta start planning for his birthday soon. Better yet, gotta teach him how to "blow" candles and "accept" angpows :)) LOL!

Blackmores : Calcium, Multi vitamins and Buffered C

Call it nutritional insurance or call it "an apple a day keeps the doctor away" but the Wongs are currently on the following "everyday health" multi vitamins, namely Calcium, Multivitamins , and Buffered C from Blackmores.

We even have a flu medication as backup just in case :) Don't know how to pronounce the name of it but just hit on the link to jump!

Just simple steps to prevent sickness rather than cure. All thanks to our friendly neighbourhood doctor's advice :)

Also, helps that we have a really good friend working in Blackmores Malaysia to explain to use the simplicities of vitamins, how's it halal and why it's not stuck on labels on the bottles. The only downside to these multivits are that they really "smell"! And upon enquiring more on why it stinks, it's due to the fact that it's based and produced from natural/raw materials, hence, the strong pungent smells :)

Anyhow, touch wood, the Wongs hasn't been sick for almost a year now? :D

IOI Mall new wing sucks! Baby changing room is so small. Can hardly fit my wife and myself! And we are not that big of people, mind you! Also, there weren't any soap nor tissues available in the changing room, eventhough the dispensers were there. And, to top all the disparity, the changing table is sideways. Imagine accessing your baby on your right/left side?!

To make matters worst, we looked for a feeding room and we only found one in Jusco, IOI, but again, it wasn't a breastfeeding room, but only a diaper changing area and shower area for babies??! WTH? Unless we have been going to the wrong rooms, please someone enlighten us cause we are never heading back there ever again!

We were not rushing him nor anxious but tonight while messing with baby in bed, he decides to chase my iPod Touch!! All these while, we were thinking that he would crawl towards his toys but apparently it's something that he couldn't have that he crawled to! What a pleasant surprise! Mikael is now officially mobile ;) and what a big smile he had on his face when he managed to reach it. You shouldve seen his determination while crawling towards it!!
